Caught in the fate of the Eastern World the youths destinies become twisted together in a frightful quest that will change the course of time. In the midst of their whirlwind adventure, they discover love, loss and uncover the truth about who and what is behind the chaotic, spiraling events in the Eastern World.

Review:
Where to begin? I think by saying Angela J ford has entered my favorite authors list. Her previous book, The Five Warriors, took me to a new world I want to visit, The Blended Ones has reminded  me why.
The plot centers on the slow and consistent decay of the Eastern World; the people groups are turning to hunt those who are Blended, which means those who belong to two people groups. It is believed the Blended Ones are the cause for the destruction of the land.
Ilieus and Phyllis are blended, they found themselves alone and with many questions to be responded, therefore they embark in an adventure. A journey filled with peril that will raise even more questions, and uncover difficult truths.
They are well accompanied by Cuthan and Artenvox, two mischievous and fun charmers. They are a delight to read, intelligent, resourceful, and unpredictable. I was constantly wondering what side were they on.
We also have brave Lord, Pharengon. Unselfish and willing to fight for his people, he carries a great responsibility, his wisdom and calmed demeanor were what I love the most about him.
Overall, The Blended ones is an action packed adventure. With turns and revelations that are hard to predict, fun scenes, and capable of giving a healthy book hangover.

Jebediah's Crime by Vincent Phan Tran

Jebediah's Crime
Synopsis:
The Hinge: A supernatural island-nation like a wound in our reality where Gods and Monsters walk hand-in-hand and angels fear to tread. In an age of smartphones and satellites, its origins and purpose still remain shrouded in mystery.

Aging bounty hunter Jebediah Creek must protect a war-torn family from Raja Rakash, the greatest warrior in history and champion of a powerful House.

What happens when two men of violence, one driven by fear and the other by shame, go to battle over the life of a family...

And the fate of the Hinge itself?

Review:
You know you've read a good book when you wake up the next morning thinking about it, trying to figure out the questions left unanswered, shaking your head with the characters antics. Jebediah's Crime can sure do that.
This book is an action packed rollercoaster. With turns and twists that make you anxious to know what's next. I felt as I was watching a movie, the descriptions are perfectly balanced with the action scenes, there isn't a moment to feel bored.
The lore is seasoned with different trades of known mythologies, which makes it both easy to understand, and rich.
The characters are multifaceted, each carrying with responsibilities and a dark past. Jebediah, the protagonist, is a tormented bounty hunter that doesn't see a hero in the mirror, but rises to protect those he cares about. He's very well accompanied by Ara, a bad-ass female bodyguard, several other bounty hunters like him, ex-marines, and a strong yet sweet old woman.
The antagonists are truly a challenge, not only are they vastly powerful but rotten to the core. Their hunger for power consumes their humanity, therefore they're unpredictable and savage. Raja, Jebediah's main problem, is quite difficult to label, he lays on a grey area, sometimes a very dark one.
Overall, an awesome read for those who love a rich story with the perfect balance between action, drama, humor, and darkness.

I want vengeance so badly that I can almost taste it. It’s all I’ve ever wanted. So, I did what any privileged, adopted boarding school girl would do. I slapped on a secret identity and became an internationally renowned thief, known as The Fox. Nobody knows me. Nobody can catch me.
Or so I thought…
It turns out; I have what they want. Special abilities. And trust me, these abilities are coveted–and dangerous. Now, I don’t know who to trust or where to go. Peril lurks on every corner as I try to uncover my past and origin. Teaming up with unlikely allies may be my only chance at survival or my biggest mistake. Only time will tell.
I’m Kit Davenport and this is only the beginning.

Author Bio:
Tate James was born and raised in the Land of the Long White Cloud (New Zealand) but now lives in Australia with her husband, baby and furbaby.
She is a lover of books, red wine, cats and coffee and is not a morning person. She is a bit too sarcastic and swears too much for polite society and definitely tells too many dirty jokes.

365 Days Alone: A Dystopian Post-Apocalyptic Fantasy (The 365 Days Quadrilogy Book 1)

35368535

Synopsis:
They were just two teenage girls--utterly normal in every way--until they woke up one morning to discover that they were all alone in a world gone mad. Somehow, while they slept, the world had changed; their parents, their friends, all had been taken...all disappeared. Now Kaylee Michelson and her best friend, Jay, must figure out not only how to live in this strange, new world--but how to survive.

These are the facts as the girls know them:
1.Everyone is gone.
2.There is no internet, no t.v., no electricity, no phones; not even batteries work anymore.
3.It is very, very quiet.

Kaylee and Jay--two terrified teenage girls who think they are all alone.
Only--they are wrong!

Review:
Dystopias are a difficult genre to write. Once you've read one, you feel like you've seen it all. But definitely not in this case. 365 Alone is simply brilliant. Nancy Isaak has created a plot that sounds familiar but it isn't. The twists are beautifully designed, despite knowing sometimes that something is gonna go wrong, most times my assumption failed, and I was pleasantly surprised.

Kaylee and Jay are a joy to read. Not your usually whinny and unresourceful teenagers. They're brave enough to stay true to themselves despite the difficult trials they have to go through. kaylee is the main point of view, but we also get a peek at the way Jay sees things, and she's just as interesting. They come across several allies in this new world, and they come from the most unexpected places, making our girls mature and question their previous conceptions.

The antagonists are very well created. Most times you're not sure who's friend or foe, but when you do, you wonder: how can someone be so damn evil?! Pernicious, selfish, revengeful, twisted creatures. A total contrast to the good girls.

Overall, I absolutely loved it! Its definitely one of those books that make you go to bed and just think about what you read, the kind of book you'll be thinking of for days. Despite being 505 pages long it didn't feel like it, it took me only two days to read it.

The Five Warriors by Angela J. Ford

The Five Warriors

Synopsis:
What if…
Your best friend started a rebellion in the middle of a war?
Your lover awakened a deep evil and helped it grow?
Your people were too cowardly to face a battle?
You stole an ancient power source?
You gambled with the fate of the world?

Review:
I'm a sucker for epic adventures, and The Five Warriors is definately one. Angela J. Ford takes her reader into a trapping world, so different and yet so similar from our own. The land is ill, people are being killed, and sometimes even worse. It is the crusade of our heroes to restore balance and vanquish an evil so great the immortals prefer to back down.
The characters are very well designed. Each with a dark past, a heavy load of grief, and a reason to fight on the war. Picking my favorite was hard, but i finally decided it will be Alaireia. A fierce and brave female warrior, and the reason is that for the first time I feel satisfied with how a female warrior is portrayed.
Short story long, I loved it. The descriptions were vivid, but didn't delayed the story, the characters had flaws that made you root for them even more. The plot was full of mystery, and kept me trapped. The end was a new beginning bering promises of another epic quest. Totally recomend it for, well basically anyone who enjoys a great adventure.

Jebediah's Crime Vincent Phan Tran

So, I just read a little sneak peek of the first instalment of The Hinge Series by Vincent Phan Tran, and I loved it. 4 chapters we more than enough to envision a world that is dark, and beautiful.
The lore is seasoned with different trades of known mythologies, which makes it both easy to understand, and rich. The characters are fun to follow, each with a different background and cultural trade, enriching the story.
One of my favorite aspects is that is hard to take sides on the upcoming battle, there is no black and white, but several shades of gray.
And it was just a taste! I can't wait to get my hands on the full book.
